Three Sweet and Sexy Makeup Looks for Valentine’s Day

Three Sweet and Sexy Makeup Looks for Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is near, and that means spending time with your loved ones, be it your significant other, or your BFFs for a Galentine’s Day get together. Either way, you’ll want your makeup to be on point. Valentine’s Day instantly brings to mind sweet makeup looks, featuring pinky hues, as well as sexy looks that pop with glam red lips and sultry sweeps of liquid eyeliner. We want you to look your best this Valentine’s Day, so we are sharing three foolproof makeup looks that you can easily recreate using Juvia’s Place products.

Smokey Burgundy Eye with Pinky Nude Lip

The first Valentine’s Day look we are going to break down is a smokey eye in a sultry burgundy shade, paired with a fabulous pinky nude lip.

Face:

Any great makeup look starts with a prepped and primed canvas. Use our full coverage Shade Sticks to get your complexion looking flawless--it serves as a lightweight foundation, concealer, and a contour stick. Apply to a primed face; if you’re using the Shade Stick as a foundation, apply to areas such as the forehead, center of face, and cheeks, and blend outward using a beauty sponge or brush.

Eyes:

Nothing says “sexy eyes” like a smokey eye. And in a rich burgundy shade, it takes the look to another level. Start by sweeping the lid with a medium-tone eyeshadow. Then, line your eyes with a burgundy eyeliner. Use a burgundy shadow to smudge from the eyeliner up, and out. Finish by sweeping the lightest eyeshadow across the brow bone, and in the inner corner of the eyes. Want a touch of sparkle? Layer a burgundy shimmer eyeshadow over the burgundy shadow, and in the corners of the eyes, where the light would naturally hit. Our Vanessa Palette and The Berries palettes have some fabulous hues that are perfect for this look. Finish this eye look with a few coats of mascara.

Cheeks:

The focus of this look is the eyes, but you can definitely add a touch of blush to the cheeks. Opt for a sweep of berry or mauve blush that will complement the burgundy smokey eye. Smile, apply to the apples of the cheeks, and blend outwards.

Lips:

The makeup rule usually is that if you have a strong eye look, you apply a neutral lipstick or lip gloss to balance out the look. Our The Nude Velvety Matte Lipstick in Chic, and #2020, are great options.

Glam Old Hollywood Red Lip and Winged Eyeliner

Face:

A vintage, Old Hollywood look is all about a done-up face. We recommend our Shade Sticks for optimal coverage and a flawless, airbrushed look.

The star of the show when it comes to the eyes is a strong brow and a fierce cat-eye wing. Apply eyebrow pencil/gel/powder as needed to build the brow up to a thick 1950s arch. Sweep neutral eyeshadow across the lid, and a darker brown or grey in the crease if you want a bit of definition there. Our The Nudes, The Warrior, and The Nubian palettes have great neutral eyeshadow hues. Sweep a black liquid eyeliner along the upper lash line, extending the wing up and out past the corner of the eye. Finish with a couple of coats of black mascara.

Cheeks:

If you want a bit of rouge to complement your bold red lip, then add a soft wash of a red-hued blush to the apples of the cheeks, and blend outwards.

Lips: While an Old Hollywood look has a bold eye, all the color and pop is thanks to the red lips. Apply a coordinating red liner, such as our universal Ruby Luxe Lip Liner, and fill with a classic red lipstick, like our The Reds Velvety Matte Lipstick in So Red, AFRIK, and The Perfect Red.

Sweet Pink Monochromatic Look

Face:

This soft, ethereal look benefits from skin that looks natural, but gets a little help from a lightweight powder. You’ll also want to opt for a shimmering highlighter, that will make you look lit from within. Add one of our various highlighters to the places where the sun would naturally hit, such as the forehead, the bridge and tip of the nose, the chin, along the top of the cheeks, and across the brow bones.

Eyes:

A natural look that will get a little oomph by the use of the color pink features a sweep of the lightest eyeshadow color you will be using across the brow bones (add your highlighter to this area after you’ve done your eyeshadow). You will also want to add this color across the lower lid. Place a medium to dark pink shade in the crease and blend (our The Sweet Pinks eyeshadow palette has great pink shades). Finish with a few sweeps of black or burgundy mascara.

Cheeks:

Keep the rosiness going with a flush of pink on the apples of the cheeks. You can opt for a lightweight yet pigmented powder blush, like our The Saharan Blush Palette Volume II.

Lips:

Complete this sweet pink Valentine’s Day makeup look with some coordinating pink lipstick and/or gloss. Our Kiss Me, Petty Betty, and So Glazed lip glosses are great options, as well as our The Nude Mauves, available in four rosy hues. Don’t forget the lip liner (in Lush, and Love Me), for a more defined pout!
