Thanks (but no thanks) to the pandemic; staycations have become a thing. With travel being a bit riskier, staycations are the new vacations, and they dont require you to buy a ticket, pack a bag, or wait in those long, slow-moving TSA lines at the airport.
Staycations can be a great way to reconnect with yourself, your friends, and your family, or just take a break from daily life and relax without spending much money.
We’re going to recommend some staycation essentials that are sure to make your trip to your own backyard/balcony/apartment as exciting as a spa vacation elsewhere.
In the spirit of celebrating women for women's history month, we’ll be highlighting staycation essentials by other women-owned brands.
The first step to staycation-ing is enjoying a long shower or a soak in the tub. This isn’t a time for those rushed showers you take before you have to work; it’s a chance for you to unwind and sing on top of your lungs as water performs its healing powers on you.
We suggest: Loquita Bath + Body by Yamira Venegas.
One thing a lot of us love about hotels is those super-plush bathrobes that make us want to stay in bed all day and do nothing. To really get into the staycation mood, swap your sweats and leggings for a comfy, breezy, soft-to-the-touch robe.
We suggest : The Jooley Robe by Ojai Lingerie.
You miss those 2000-count Egyptian cotton sheets in hotels? Us too. But in the meantime, you can make your bed as comfy as you can by laying on freshly laundered sheets.
We suggest: Jungalow Beddings by Justina Blakeney.
Linen & Pillow Mist:
Bed is laid, you’re fresh out the bath and in your robe, you can make your staycation a little nicer by spraying pillow mist on your sheets, your pillows, or your couch cushions; you won't just be comfy as you lay down or sit, you’ll get to enjoy a nice aroma too.
We suggest: Aba Love Apothecary by Aba Gyepi-Garbrah.
Set the mood and vibe for your staycation with some relaxing scents. Aromatherapy is an essential part of your staycation, so light some candles as you soak in the tub, enjoy a good book, or dance around your apartment.
We suggest: Cadence Candle Co by Taelor Salmon.
Up the ante of your staycation by adding skincare treatment to it because you can't have a home vacay if your face isn’t clean (yeah we said it). So we’re going to show you how to have your own home facial with some of our products.
Let’s Melt It Off Cleansing balm: slather some of this good stuff on your skin and gently massage the balm all over your face and neck; unclench your jaw as you do this. Make sure you have some of your favorite music playing as you massage your face; it's more fun this way. The balm helps cleanse the skin, and the truth is you could really benefit from a gentle face massage to relax tense muscles and boost blood circulation.
After you're done with the balm, enjoy the next step as you use our Let’s Melt It Off Gel cleanser to wash your face. Take your time to work it into a lather; this is another chance to enjoy a facial massage. Don’t just rinse it off after 10 seconds; take your time with it, and you’ll reap the benefits of a deep cleansing massage.
Niacinamide serum: Once your face is nice and clean, apply a few pumps of this ultra-hydrating serum to your skin to boost moisture, gently massage the serum into your damp skin for maximum effect.
Go H.A.M on hydration by dipping your index finger into the jar of our Peptide and Ceramide cream and applying this nutrient-rich moisturizer all over your face and neck. By this stage, you’re feeling good and pampered, but we have one more thing to seal the deal, the Afterglow serum. The name does as implied; it's that final step of your staycation facial that locks in all the goodness that you’ve applied to your skin.
Lastly, you’ll need a few food delivery apps on your phone such as Uber Eats, Door Dash, or whatever else- it’s as close you’ll get to room service as you’re going to get. If cooking is too much of a chore, you can have whatever you’re craving delivered right to your doorstep, just like room service!
